2023 Annual Meeting Notice



MCA Board Meeting

Fellow Residents,

The MCA Annual Meeting will take place on January 29, 2023, at 2:00pm via Zoom and in person at the Morningside Park Community Center, Miami FL 33137.  You may vote at the meeting or by absentee ballot (online or by paper ballot); the link to vote online will be emailed to all member-households on or before January 21, 2023.

At the meeting, the open board member seats will be elected and the membership will be asked to vote upon a proposed amendment to the MCA Bylaws that clarifies that absentee ballots may be distributed and collected electronically (i.e. via email, or an election software).  Paper absentee ballots may be requested.  In-person and paper voting remain options, unaffected by this amendment.

Here are the procedures on how to vote by absentee ballot.

            You will receive an email from electionbuddy.com

1.         If you would like to vote absentee electronically, follow the directions in the electionbuddy.com email. The password is MCAElection2023

2.         If you would like to vote with a paper absentee ballot, you can obtain a ballot

by requesting one via an email to Ignacio Villanueva (ignaciovillanueva@mac.com) and Diana Briceño (dianahelenab@gmail.com). You need to supply your full name and address where you reside.  Once membership is verified, you will receive instructions via email on how and where to pick up the ballot.

Paper absentee ballots may be requested beginning on January 22, 2023 at 8 am.

All absentee ballots must be submitted no later than 6:00 pm on January 26.

3.         If you would like to vote in person at the MCA Annual Meeting you may obtain a ballot at the meeting. You will be able to vote in person at 2:00pm.

Polls will close at the meeting on the 29th at 2:30, at which time all votes (absentee and in-person) will be tabulated.  The results will be announced as soon as is reasonably possible, but no later than 6 pm on January 30th.

In all cases, to vote, you must provide your address for membership verification AND be current with your MCA dues for 2023.

The last day to submit your candidacy is January 13th, 2023.  You must be a current MCA member by January 10, 2023, to qualify as a candidate.

All candidates are invited to email their photos and a short statement (no more than 250 words) to the election chairs for inclusion in a “Meet the Candidates” page on the MCA website. In addition, the candidates will be invited to introduce themselves and address the residents who attend at the MCA’s Annual Meeting on January 29, 2023 at the Morningside Park Club House. The meeting will also be available via zoom.

An Official Written Notice of Annual Meeting, listing the candidates and items for vote and discussion will be sent out the week of January 16th, 2023.

Absentee Ballots, only to be sent to current, paid 2023 MCA members, will be provided no later than January 23, 2022.

Absentee Ballots must be submitting to the elections committee chairs no later than January 27, 2023.

The last day to submit your candidacy is January 6th, 2021.  You must be a current MCA member by January 6, 2021, to qualify as a candidate.

    All candidates are invited to email their photos and a short statement (no more than 250 words) to the election chairs for inclusion in a “Meet the Candidates” page on the MCA website. In addition, the candidates will be invited to introduce themselves and address the residents who attend at the MCA’s Annual Meeting on January 31, 2021 at the Morningside Park Club House. The meeting will also be available via zoom.

    An Official Written Notice of Annual Meeting, listing the candidates and items for vote and discussion will be sent out the week of January 11th, 2021.

    Absentee Ballots, only to be sent to current, paid 2021 MCA members, will be provided no later than January 24, 2021.

    2020 Election

    • 2020 Annual Meeting and Elections will be held January 26th at 1:00pm at the Bayshore Lutheran Church. The membership will be asked to vote upon the election of Board members and proposed amendments to the bylaws.  Voting will be open from 12:00-2:00pm. Or you may vote absentee (see below).

    JANUARY 12, 2020 ELECTION PROCEDURES NOTICE:

    In anticipation of the upcoming MCA annual election on January 26, here are the procedures on how to vote.

                You will receive an email from electionbuddy.com

    1.         If you would like to vote electronically absentee, follow the directions in the electionbuddy.com email, or

    2.         If you would like to vote with an absentee ballot, you may obtain a ballot two ways:

    • by using electionbuddy.com
    • by requesting one via an email to Bradley Colmer (bwcolmer@gmail.com) AND Rob Pollock (ras_pollock@yahoo.com). You need to supply your full name and address where you reside.  Once verified, you will receive instructions via email on how and where to pick up the ballot.

    Paper absentee ballots must be requested no later than 8:00 pm on January 20, 2020, and must be turned in to either election chair by 8:00 pm on January 24th, 2020.

    3.         If you would like to vote at the annual meeting, you may obtain a paper ballot at the meeting.  You will be able to vote in person from noon until 2:00 pm at the meeting.

    On site and electronic polls close at 2:00 pm January 26.

    In all cases, you must provide your address for verification AND be current with your MCA dues for 2020.

In addition, the candidates will be invited to introduce themselves and address the residents who attend at the MCA’s Annual Meeting on January 26.

    An Official Written Notice of Annual Meeting, listing the candidates and items for vote and discussion will be sent out the week of December 29, 2019.

    Absentee Ballots, only to be sent to current, paid 2020 MCA members, will be provided beginning January 12, 2020.

    Absentee Ballots must be delivered to the elections committee chairs or their district representatives.  The last day to submit is January 24, 2020.

    The Annual MCA Meeting, January 26, 2020, 1:00 PM

    MCA Organizational Meeting of 2020 to elect new officers will occur on February 11, 2020.

    ** Friendly reminder to pay your 2020 Annual Membership Fees of $40 before the Annual Meeting, otherwise you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE.  MCA member renewal reminders will be sent out during the last week in December. You can also pay by contacting the Treasurer John Calkins to coordinate a check drop off. **
